PC settings, HRD, FPS, and Stuttering issues

A few things I have noticed while playing on PC.

  • DLSS is blurry. It appears variable ray shading is forced on with no toggle to turn it off. Please allow some way to toggle this off.
  • When using DLSS, upon restart the game switches setting back to DLSS Performance
  • When transitioning from an upgrade bench or cutscene the framerate drastically drops. Talking sub 20 FPS. (turning off vsync may fix this)
  • HDR may be bugged. It's noticeably darker, not necessarily washed out, but nothing really pops
  • Stutter throughout the game despite loading shaders upon first launch
  • Cutscenes suffer massive framerate dips as well and after the cutscene the frame rate stays low for some time after.

The game is great otherwise, but until issues are resolved I will be refunding the game and purchasing at a later time if issues are addressed.

  • I will reinforce the above - all the issues listed are what I am getting.
High end PC and game installed to gen 4 NVMe SSD.

There are also instances of no control input to then a second or two later register that input. Both on Dual Sense (PS5 controller, which the game sees an an XBox controller) and also on KB & mouse.

I might hold off on a refund for now.

The stuttering is frame time issues and new data being loaded in and not caching.
The extreme CPU utilisation is also a concern and likely a contribution to the stutter.

The near constant stuttering is my biggest issue with the game, it's obviously not shader compilation as it never improves and you can run back and forth between trigger points and it'll stutter every time. It seems like good old asset streaming stutter, too much is being loaded at once, it was the same with Elden Ring at launch.

  • Same thing for me and my wife. She uses a 5800x-6950XT rig and I am on 3080ti-10700k one. We get constant stutter, most of it being traversal, but one thing that we have only seen a few people mention is ray tracing will randomly just turn off in game. Going to the menu will show and say that RT is enabled but it is actually not in game.

    Hi Everyone,

I wanted to pop in and check if this is happening after the latest patch. If so please share the following information:

    Platform:
    PSN ID/Xbox GT:
    Region:
Are you using an internal or external drive?
Are you using an HDD or SSD?
Date this issue started (is it still happening?)?
    Is anything else happening?
If possible, share a Screenshot or Clip...
If on PC, please share a DxDiag

I purchased the game again after seeing patches hit. Quick rundown of things I've noticed.

    • DLSS no longer causes blurry textures with VRS toggled off
    • DLSS settings are no longer reverting to Performance
    • So far I have not encountered a sudden and sustained frame rate drop when transitioning from a cutscene or upgrade bench
    • Stutter is still apparent, but does not seem to be as bad as it was on launch

I still am having issues with HDR. Enabling it in Windows 11 and having it switch to Auto in game was causing things to appear washed out, almost like a grey filter is over everything. Similar to how Windows 11 displays SDR content. By enabling HDR in Windows 11, launching the game, turning HDR in game from Auto to Off, then disabling HDR in Windows 11 by using Win+Alt+B, then setting HDR in game from Off to Auto, it got HDR working. It would be great if the team was able to figure out why this is.

    Platform: PC/Steam
    PSN ID/Xbox GT: N/A
    Region: North America
Are you using an internal or external drive? Internal
Are you using an HDD or SSD? SSD
Date this issue started (is it still happening?)? HDR issue has been happening since 01/27/2023
Is anything else happening? HDR still having issues.

    DxDiag: Attcahed

Hope the team is able to get everything running great. The game is tops otherwise. Also, enabling ReBar if applicable increased overall FPS for this game as well.

Thanks for checking in - stuttering has improved since the last patch but still remains an issue. I find it occurs most of the time when you round a corner, open a door, or if something new is about to happen (i.e. an animation/scripted event happens).

I'm also having trouble beating Chapter 12/the final boss due to the frame rate tanking after every cut scene in the game. I think this occurred almost 100% of the time when a cut scene would play out. Frame rate drips from 70-90 FPS to ~20, and will continue getting lower until I back out to the menu. Sometimes when I come back into the game the cut scene and subsequent gameplay will play fine, sometimes it will just do it again.,

    Internal NVME drive

    Day 1, still happening

Stuttering, frame rate low during and after cut scenes. DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG Driver: 5284
