Re: Getting VC++ runtime redistributable package error

I'm having the same problem with the Download version for PC.  Not really looking forward to having to spend 30+ hours downloading again.  Please help.

Hey, try navigating to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\__Installer\vc and run the various exes that are available at vc2008sp1\redist, \vc2012\redist and \vc2013\redist.

No good. Downloading and installing from Mcriosoft has no effect.

    Reinstalling game has no effect.

Uninstalling and reinstalling C++ has no effect.

After four 45-minute DvD installations, uninstalls, and re-installations this is frustrating in the extreme.

Worked for me too.  For the person who asked where to find this, go to the __Installer\vc directory in your Inquisition install.  go into the 2012 folder and run the .exe there.

Found a way to cheat the installer I think, at least for my problem.  Since it was the vc2008SP1 version that wouldn't install, I renamed the existing distribution there, and copied the 2013 distribution file, which I could install manually, into that directory (the vc2008SP1 one), and since it had the same filename, just left it as is.  Installer worked.  Game seems to be working fine so far.

I still cannot install DRAGON AGE, Although I go to VC2008, 2012 or 2013. I don't know why when I buy a legal game, but I have to find some solution to fix any bug with myself. It should happen with pirate game only, right? Now, I REALLY UPSET WITH THE VENDER. I may do not want to refund more than 2 times.

    Thank for reading.

This is what did it for me, I tried all ideas from the posts before, but lektok13's instructions were correct. Someone before had suggested copying the 2013 installer into the 2008 folder but you need to copy the 2010 installer. This a year after Dragon Age Inquisition came out and its still a problem. Bad show Origin. And I downloaded the trial too so this is already a strike against them before I pay them money.

After getting the error, I ran "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\__Installer\directx\redist\DXSETUP.exe" (your disk drive letter may be different).  It installed the DirectX file plus a couple of prerequisites needed for that DirectX installation.  After that, I had the game finish up installing and it worked fine.

Hope this helps a few of you.

  • @lektok13 the original poster who saved me!

ok finally got the game to install.

1/ opened redist folder vc 2008 sp1 and deleted it.

2/opened redist folder vc 2010 copied it and moved it to 2008 folder.

3/ closed click install in origin and it worked

    ----------------------------------------------------

6 years later and still having the issue but this post fixed it, I found the folders they were talking about in the install folder "__Installer" then "vc".

Worked like a charm! Thank you!
