The Fate of the Leaders of Thedas

Hi, everyone. Hope you’re doing well. The lack of the Dragon Age Keep (wish it was kept) made me question a myriad of things, including the fates of the characters we had met as the Grey Warden, Hawke and the Inquisitor

Did we get any news regarding the fate of the leaders of Thedas in the Veilguard? And other characters we had met in the previous games? Including our former companions. Aside from Aveline and Sebastian and Sten and Marius (not a companion but was Calpernia’s former lover).

I’m aware that you can get some of them killed but what exactly happened to them if you spared them? What happened to the leaders and recruits of the Inquisition, Alistair, Anora, Loghain, Fiona, Bhelen, Harrowmont, Irving, Eamon, Isolde, Connor, Teagan, Samson, Feynriel (who goes to Tevinter if you allow him), Celene, Gaspard, Briala, Abelas, Cyril, Alexius, Calpernia, and Meredith who is somehow still alive (or dead after knowing what happened to Kirkwall in the game)? And the list goes on...

Regarding, Calpernia, her absence was strange since this game takes place in HER homeland of Tevinter. I can only surmise that she might’ve left the Venatori after you had exposed Corypheus’s plans to her in Inquisition. But what happened to her afterwards? I know that she almost became a companion but that’s it.

So… have they all perished in the Sixth Blight or are they still alive?

And most importantly, who was the Divine?

Cheers

Thank you for responding as well! I love and hate reading through game art books. There are always so many ideas left on the table that can't be implemented for one reason or another. I am actually glad there weren't too too many "what could have been" items.

We don't talk about Absolution... Haha I just pretend that never happened. I made the mistake of binging it after finishing the first season of Arcane. Gosh, I don't even remember who Fairbanks was. I will have to look him up.

The Archon being defeated by random Venatori agents and traitors was wild indeed. Though now that I think about it, if Dorian and Mae will be candidates to replace him, you might not necessarily have to be the strongest mage in the land to earn the title... We can always hope the rumors about The Viper are true. haha

Yes, I've seen the artbook and frankly I was highly disappointed that they weren't added into the game, like so many other ideas from Joplin and Morisson.

Regarding the Divine, I do agree that it made no sense for Harding not to have spoken with her much since she was her agent! I also believe that the game should've been about the Inquisition again, not Rook. And yes an agent from Orlais would make sense or even a Tevinter one since the Inquisition recruited people from almost every nation of Thedas.

I agree with you regarding Sandal and Bethany and Tallis as well.

Yes, I do hope that we know what happened to them in the future because this game left us with more questions than answers honestly. I actually liked the Dawn of the Seeker, it made me understand Cassandra more. I didn't like Absolution because personally, the characters were insufferable (except Fairbanks). But them appearing in this game would've also made sense since they went to Tevinter. I'm still upset that Fairbanks died in that series however. He deserved better than be killed.

I think Archon Radonis should've made an appearance because he was an intriguing character. His death really disappointed me. He was politically shrewd and had a soft spot for cats lol. Him dying so quickly made no sense! And killed by the imbecilic Venatori no less. What even bothered me most is that in Dock Town, some people think that he cares more about his cats than his country when in the comic he’s patriotic.

    Let's hope for the best.

    Thank you for answering.

    Cheers

Hmmm... The Veilguard art book. In it, it was explained that Calpernia and even Imshael(?) could have been party members in the previous iteration of the game.

The Divine sounds like either Vivienne or Cassandra depending on the conversation in Veilguard. I was thinking Lilianna, but Harding said she didn't speak with her much. She was one of the best scouts/spies in the Inquisition. There is not a chance she wouldn't have spoken with "The Nightingale". Side note: The Inquisition should have been a playable faction (If they were retained). I know Harding, Varric, and Charter were a constant, visible reminder, but it would answer your question if we were able to be an official agent from Orlais and not a random field recruit.

You put a lot of minor characters in that list. Omitting Sandal should be criminal. He would have been huge for Harding in this game. He did what she and Valta did alllll the way back in DA:2. Omitting Tallis is practically a war crime. She, Bethany, and Isabella in the same party was "game over" for any enemy. The perfect storm. Her movie was terrible, a terrible waste of a talented actress, but that DLC? Superb.

Some of those characters are/will be in books and comics. Dragon Age movies and TV series need a serious infusion of life. I am looking at Arcane and "swinging at the air" in jealously. Haha Dawn of The Seeker is the only good Dragon Age film, anime at that, and it was short.

There are many more bit players that got cameos in Inquisition, DA2, and Veilguard that I would like to know about as well. Some were in alternate or secret scenes. Others were just mentioned in a passage of a codex entry.

The ending of Veilguard alluded to the big picture and subsequent arcs ballooning outward again, like after DA:2. Other than that, you'll probably never know at the rate we're going. I'll be in a nursing home before the next game drops.

    Regards
