So I've managed to play through the introductory bit, in the infirmary when trying to leave the game crashed with a DirectX error popup saying the following:
See a few others have ran into this, any ideas on what to try? Reinstall the latest Nvidia driver?
I got a screenshot, my directx error message is slightly different, game crashes after a few minutes each time within character creation.
I am so frustrated with this. If you find out the fix let me know please!

Slightly glad it isn't just me. I was worried my laptop was on its way out. Crazy because it runs Baldur's Gate 3 on the highest setting but cannot cope with medium setting on Veilguard?
Yep, same exact scenario. I have all the settings on the lowest possible and I can't exit character creator without my game crashing completely with a GPU directx error above. And yet I can play BG3 with high settings. I really hope there is a patch soon or something so I can see the game I paid for
I get this same error (but with a different listed GPU of course). Very frustrated!
I put this is another thread, but I am also going to post here because I am getting the same DirectX Error:
I was able to play for 6 hours yesterday without any crashes on my 1080ti, but I just reached the "Ritual Site at the Ancient Bridge" section of the game and the game crashes within 2-3 minutes.
Fixes I've tried that were unsuccessful:
- updated graphics driver
- updated BIOS
- confirmed Windows is up to date
- deleted Shaders cache folder for Veilguard
- repaired game files in Steam
- uninstalled and reinstalled the game
- uninstalled and reinstalled NVIDIA GeForce Experience since I have been unable to optimize the game in GeForce Experience. My wife has a 2060 GPU and has had no issues being able to optimize game settings in GeForce Experience.
- lowered game graphics settings
- changed Shader Cache Size to 100 GB on NVIDIA Control Panel
- confirmed PhysX settings are set to graphics card in NVIDIA Control Panel
- freed up over 300 GB of space on my SSD
I have done every fix I can find without success. I think this is going to require a hotfix from BioWare.
same 1080ti and I also keep having this pop up. I'm new to pc gaming and while its nice to get those crazy frames...idk dealing with stuff like this is exactly why I always stayed with console. Hope this is resolved soon.

Hey guys. I know a lot of people are having issues with this.
Disable strand hair in graphics settings. This seems to have solved the problem for me.
This hasn't fixed things completely for me, but it has improved. I was consistently crashing during the Inquisitor part of Character Creation before, but now I'm actually playing the game! I still get the same error/crash, but it's every forty-five minutes to an hour now, usually during a cutscene. I'll take it, but still keeping my fingers crossed for a fix.
Now I have to figure out the inventory not opening bug. 😅 Fingers crossed for a patch for any of this soon. lol

So far so good with disabling strand hair so this might be a good shout. Will see how it goes tomorrow but managed to get through 3 hours with no crashing or errors.
Graphics drivers are fully updated. Game is still crashing.
Graphic drivers fully updated, game keeps randomly crashing (sometimes after 10 mins, sometimes after 1 hour) and giving me this DirectX Error over and over again.
I am having the same error. It crashed after few minutes, and it gets worse. now it crashes the moment i get into a save :(

Is there no fix yet? I've tried every suggested method across several of these threads and the game still wont run. I'm now repairing game files which is at 36% after two hours. This is seriously disappointing after paying for deluxe just to have it not run.
Fix this. Only started occurring after latest drivers. Seems pretty obvious where the problem is.
Patch 4 - Still crashes during loading, occasionally 20 seconds after loading. Not that I expected anything with the patch notes not mentioning it lol. Uninstalled.
I still cannot get past the initial loading icon after the latest patch. Before that I was playing fine, nothing changed on my PC. Yet EA support still has me go through the ringer and troubleshoot all day. When I gave them a list of what I've done to troubleshoot, this was their reply:
"And as I can see here you have tried all the troubleshooting so I will not waste your time in giving you any troubleshooting. In this case I would suggest you to please return the game and ask for the refund from the steam as you have purchased the game from the steam."
I'm obviously not the only one with insta-crash on load judging from what I've found online so far...
I'm having the same problem. The game crashes on load with the directX error. I just bought it, it is up-to-date, all of my drivers are up-to-date, as is Windows. I can't play at all, and I am a bit miffed.
