Same issue for me. Game crashes basically one second after launch. Once crashed my PC altogether. Verified game files. Disabling Steam overlay did not help. Windows and Graphics drivers are up to date. Specs GeForce RTX 4080 Super, Intel I-9-14900k, 32GB RAM

I've been getting this error message during character creation. I just uninstalled the game and I am now re-installing. All my drivers are updated, computer is updated, no background overlays, absolutely nothing should be interfering with this. So frustrating on opening day for the game.

Update - got it to launch by going to local game files, folder Shader Cache. Deleted contents (copied to another desktop file). Game launched successfully.

how do you update bios?

I have the same problem and it got as far as having a cursor but nothing else before crashing. I run a 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-1115G4 @ 3.00GHz and I refuse to buy a better laptop just for one game. I even tried to start the game up right when my computer gets into Windows. I've updated everything, repaired the game, uninstalled it, reinstalled it and can't even get to the settings to change anything about the game.

I keep having the same issue. Deleting shader cache initially worked - game loaded, and then crashed after a bit, again and again. Right now deleting shaders stopped working and game won't start at all.

[Information and Troubleshooting]
Hey Everyone,
I wanted to check if anyone is still seeing crashing at launch after updating their BIOS. If so, be sure to try the steps on our post: Dragon Age The Veilguard - Technical Assistance & Bug Reports | EA Forums - 4985821
We can also try a few workarounds depending on exactly what is happening.
- Unable to continue past "Press Start To Play" - Try making changes to Windows Defender, steps here.
- Crashing during Shader Compilation - Check for BIOS, Windows, and Graphics Driver updates.
- Inputs not registering in Character Creator or when playing, Try disabling any third-party software (like Razer Synapse) and check if this continues. If this continues, try using a different peripheral.
After going through the above troubleshooting and workaround. If you continue crashing at launch or when trying to start a new game, please let us know the following.
- EA ID (PSN ID/Gamertag):
- Which platform or client are you on?
- Are you getting an error message?
- If possible, share a Screenshot or Clip...
- If on PC, please share a DxDiag file and an EA app Error ID Number
We can use this information, to help make the team aware of the issue and to further investigate.
Cheers!

- EA ID (PSN ID/Gamertag): EA: noelia_gin, noelia_g on steam
- Which platform or client are you on? Steam
- Are you getting an error message? no
- If possible, share a Screenshot or Clip... it's basically a dark screen and then it shuts down immediately, clipped what happens
- If on PC, please share a DxDiag file and an EA app Error ID Number: dxdiag attached

Just an update, my Bios is up to date. I also tried the shader cache deletion method. Game still crashes while in play every 3 minutes or so (I'm on steam).
