Using controller on PC switching to keyboard mappings constantly

Question

I've been played Veilguard on PC for about 40 hours using a XSX controller (connected via Bluetooth). Throughout my experience, it will randomly switch to displaying keyboard mappings, limiting my abilities and messing up my controls.

A quick fix for this has been to pause the game and save, in which it will flip back to the correct controller mappings. This was already annoying and frustrating, but since the most recent patch it seems to be exponentially worse and I'm experiencing this issue within 5 minutes of starting up the game. After doing the quick fix, it will happen again within another 5 minutes.

Unfortunately, I've reach the point of frustration enough times during larger battles in which I cannot save the game and have no way to get my controls back that I am no longer interested in putting up with this until it's fixed.

I've tried all of the "fixes" I've seen mentioned in other bug discussions (disconnecting all accessories i.e. mouse / keyboard, trying different controllers, wiring in my controller, disabling steam input and vice versa).

Is anyone else experiencing this and found a proper fix? And has anyone else noticed it become increasingly worse with Patches 3 & 4? I really, really am enjoying my playthrough of this game and don't want to stop playing because of such a frustrating situation.

Exactly the same for me, only difference is the use of the Nintento Pro controller. This didn't happen in the beginning, luckily I could complete the game before but was excited to start another playthrough and then this happened. Tried everything I could find online. Your fix worked for me for one day. Before that the fix that worked for me was connecting the controller after in was in de main menu in the game. But that doesn't work anymore since patch 4. I've also stopped playing the game because the level of frustration became unbearable. I'm NOT a violent person, but the idea of yeeting my controller across the room became rather appealing thought after it happening more and more.

I really hope it gets fixed soon, this is the only game in my Steam library where this occurs.

I'm having the exact same issue. Just built a new PC. First time with windows 11 and fresh installed the game. This happens minutes into a game and can only be reset by trying to save a game. I can cancel the save and that is enough to switch it back, but only for a few minutes. Literally unplayable on controller. Tried disabling steam overlay and ensure my Nintendo pro controller is enabled and working properly through steam.&nbsp;

I'm glad that I'm not alone in this fight. I also have a Nintendo Pro controller and tried that out as an option and it didn't fix anything.

+1 that this is the only game in my Steam library where this is occurring

Same for me. Was using Nintendo Pro Controller and after Patch 4, I couldn't use the left joystick to select from the R1 menu. Like those who have already responded, I fiddled with unplugging all peripherals, making sure there were no other bluetooth devices, and played with Steam overlay settings. Nothing worked.

Consequently, I switched to a PS4 controller. Seems to be working for now.
