Button to locate installed games

Hello,

I'm opening this thread to let you know that it is incredible that in 2025 there is still no button to allow players to locate installed games like we were able to do with the Origin App.

There are thousands of threads on this forum about players unable to select a folder where the game is already installed, forcing them to install the game again.

I hope you will take this into consideration.

Thank you.

Hi EA_Leeuw, I'd just like to add that the 're-download and select the same installation folder' workaround to detect existing files does not work if your storage media doesn't have the space for a fresh install of the game, because the file detection does not trigger until you initiate a new download, which is prohibited unless EA detects the requisite free space.

I have a small 200gb SSD with Battlefield 2042 installed on it with only 50Gb space remaining. BF2042 is nearly 100Gb, so when trying to 'redownload' EA rightly tells me I don't have the space. This is frustrating since the space is in fact taken up mostly by my existing installation of BF2042, but there is no way to get EA to recognise those files.

Please add a 'find existing installation' button or equivalent — nearly every other game manager/storefront in the industry has this feature, and it actively makes me avoid EA games when the competition is easy to quickly set up on a new PC in other game managers. This feature is vital for some PC users who deal with lots of storage devices. Thanks! 😊

    Hi InventTheLife,

This functionality is actually already built into the EA app—at least, to some extent. When you go to redownload or reinstall a game and select the same installation folder where it was previously installed (for example, D:\Games\EA\Battlefield 2042), the app will detect the existing files. It will then scan them for any corruption and redownload only what's necessary. If everything checks out, it will simply prepare the game to be launched again through the EA app.

So yes, that’s how it currently works. That said, I do understand and appreciate the suggestion for a dedicated button—it could definitely make the process clearer and more user-friendly.
