EA Desktop fails to load - unresolvable error occured. restart fails and loops.

Windows 10

i7

32GB RAM

Dell G3 3779 laptop

2, 27" external monitors

Startech USB dual monitor HDMI splitter

16 port powered USB hub with a whole boatload of USB drives.

dxdiag attached.

The first time I installed the app,  it failed to install because Origin was open as a background process. I stopped that and rebooted.  Made sure Origin was not running in the background.

After reboot, Installed the EA desktop this time with no errors.  Clicked on the desktop icon, it opened to the login page and accepted the login then it failed when starting the app. Error: "Oof, something exploded - Sorry an unresolvable error occurred. Please restart the app."

I clicked the restart app button and it brought me back to the EA app desktop and immediately bombed with the same error and looped over and over.  Had to stop the process.

Then, I uninstalled it, rebooted and reinstalled it.  This time I went to "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop\EALauncher.exe"  clicked the launcher. same looping error.  Had to stop the process to get it to quit looping.

Thinking there may be a problem with the launcher, I uninstalled  the app and rebooted.  Then I went to "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop\" and clicked on EADesktop.exe.  it also failed and looped.

  • i had the same problem as you and i don't think origin and the new program will work if they are both downloaded, i deleted origin and all my games and just redownload the new launcher and it seemed to work

    @buddyfaithy

Origin and EA Desktop will work on the same system without problems, just not at the same time.

I would strongly suggest not to delete Origin just yet. EA Desktop is still an early Beta with many functions not working or not implanted yet.

Many games are missing as well.

Same I'm getting the same error, tried re-installing with Origin closed, still getting the error message.

So I guess I won't be trying out the beta anytime soon

No idea what is causing the issue as it doesn't give any clues, just some non-descript error message that it's broken

  • I am having the same problem on Windows 10.  i don't have Origin on this computer because it is a brand new hard drive.  When I first downloaded the app.  It worked fine.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling.  I still have the same issue.  On some occasions, if I hit restart enough ti will load but them I get a blank window on the app.

  • @porkyp After force closing, try opening EALaunchHelper from the directory.
  • Hello I think it's a USB problem this problem happened to me when I'm trying to play fifa 21

and I tried to unplug controller USB cable and the error message just gone and fixed , try to uninstall the device and reinstall it again hope this will help you.

NOTE>>> you need to select the x64 or the x86 file depending on what architecture your computer has. To find this out, Click Start, right click on "Computer" and select "Properties". Under system type is should say "32-Bit Operating System" or "64-bit Operating System". If 32-bit operating system, download the x86 file, and if 64-bit download the x64 file.

Perform a clean boot. If a clean boot is the fix then you need to take a look at programs installed on your PC and find the one doing it. I have a list of programs to make issues in BF4 if you need it.

    Other things to do...

Open up a Windows Explorer folder and navigate to C:\Program Files(x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4, and find a file called user.cfg and open it with Notepad.
Note if you do not have this file, you will be unable to perform this workaround.

Find and delete the line that reads UI.DrawEnable, then save and close your config and start your game and you should no longer be experiencing this crash.
