Battlefield 1 Steam Won't Launch x EA app

Hey. I bought BF1 through Steam recently as it was on sale. I have downloaded the game, but it won't launch. When I try to open it on steam, it does nothing. When I try to open it through the game's location on my PC, it says

"You don't have access. This title may have been downloaded to your device by another user who owns the game. Log in to a different account or restart the app to try again."

I have tried redownloading the game, tried to launch the game MULTIPLE TIMES, looked it up a million times, and it has just wasted so much of my time. If I don't find a solution here, I am just going to request a refund, I can't deal with this nonsense anymore.

    Hey everyone,

Many thanks for all the reports.

The issue has been escalated to the EA app teams for investigation.

To support the EA app teams with their investigation, we would like to ask you for some EA app Error Report ID's, if possible. These can be generated via the EA app itself. Please see here how this works. We would also like to know the region (country) you are playing from.

Could you post these EA app Error Reporter ID's here in this thread? Many thanks in advance!

    Update 13-12-2022:

Is it maybe possible that you own multiple copies of the same game, but via different launchers? Let's say a copy of BF1 PC via the EA app and a copy of BF1 via Steam.

And if you own a copy of the same game(s) via multiple launchers, have you installed both? If that is the case, this can indeed cause issues.

Our suggestion is to try the following:

    • Uninstall all BF1 installations (especially the ones installed through Origin or the EA app),
    • Reboot the PC,
    • Install & launch BF1 through Steam,
      • It's important that the games bought from Steam are installed through Steam and launched from Steam for the first time.

Let us know how things go. Also, screenshots from the EA app will help (e.g., does the EA app show that the game is installed after the first launch attempt from Steam?).

  • @EA_Leeuw No. I can't find origin file in my computer. BF1 in steam was launched by origin few days ago. But now it is launched by EA app and can't work now.
  • I just bought BF1 in steam but can not run it, too. I have my Origin Acc with a playtime of about 29h via EA play and PC Game Pass abos. Now, I start the game via steam and logged into my Origin acc. But the game will not start in Origin nor in EA Desktop. In EA Desktop, sometimes displays the error that the problem is on EA side (see attachment of starting post).

Additionally, the game does not work in Geforce Now either.

Badly I am willing to make use of refund within the next few days in steam.

  • Yes, I verified the game files of BF1 via Steam. I even uninstall the game file and redownload the game again at steam. But it still can't launch via Steam

  • I played bf1 in steam 83h and now I can't launch the bf1 when ea app launch. Few days ago it could be launched by origin. But it can' be launched now when it is instead by ea app!

  • I've had the game on EA play for a month and the game was running perfectly fine, And recently I've bought it from g2a as a steam code and activated it on steam but when i try to start the game it just doesn't open for whatever reason, i've tried redownloading it, checking the files and starting it from origin.
