C&C cannot launch for some reason

Summarize your bug I get a message every time I try to launch any command and conquer game saying " an administrator has blocked you from running this app. For more information, contact the administrator.". I am the administrator of my computer so this is a stupid message.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Just trying launching the game
What happens when the bug occurs? doesn't launch the game
What do you expect to see? A game that launches so I can play it

Hello everyone,

I can't play any command and conquer games from the EA Application on my Windows 10 Home on my surface pro 7.

I just download the EA store for the first time and I purchased and downloaded my first games "command and Conquer the Ultimate Collection". After installing the games anytime I double click the shortcut on my desktop it gives me a message from UAC saying  "This app has been blocked for your protection. An administrator has blocked you from running this application. For more information contact the administrator" -see first attachment. I AM THE ADMINISTRATOR - what in the world is it talking about?

So I right clicked the Generals icon -- go to properties -- and then check the box to "run as administrator" it still gives me the same message as before. I tried launching Generals by going to the EA store app -- it asks me to grant administrator privileges to the game for some odd reason -- then shows its launching the game only for a second before loading stops and goes back to the EA app -- never opening the game.

I tried going to where the ".exe" files live "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour" and right clicking the icons -- going to properties -- and then making sure the check box is checked for "run as administrator" --- still doesn't work. Then I tried going to windows command prompt as administrator and using the "cd" command to go to the game folder and runing the exe game file and it still does not work.

I am completely baffled as to how to play any of these CNC games. Can someone please help me with this? if I can't get this to work I need to see if I can get a refund.

    I have the same problem.  I play daily but for some reason I get a message from the "User Account Control" stating" This App has been blocked  for your protection.

    Contact Administrator

    Generals.exe

    I am the administrator and I cant figure how to gain access again.

    Possible  Microsoft Defender may have something to do with it.  I see its shield over the icon on the desktop, But I dont know how to correct it.   I purchased the game from your selections

    Hello @NewGiJoE and @Sgt_Lewis72,

    could you try putting the EA app and C&C as an exception into your antivirus? And launching both as administrator?

  • Unfortunately it did not work to add EA application or the game as an exception to windows defender. Has anyone been able to play command and conquer at all from the EA app?
