EA APP Fails To Launch After Install Error EC:104

Product: The EA app
Platform:PC
Error Report ID (learn how to create an Error Report ID in the sticky post) 0542461f-faec-48c0-a588-83584d0873b2
Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Application Installer
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 04.06.23 11:24
Summarize your bug Every time I launch the app, even directly after an install, the application crashes and says that there was an error. Sometimes it gives me error code EC:104, and other times it does not specify. I cannot open the app or know if it is fully installed since it immediately crashes.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Install the app?
What happens when the bug occurs? The app crashes and sometimes gives me error code EC:104, othertimes it does not. It just says there was an error and to restart the app, which does nothing to fix it.
What do you expect to see? I want to play my games I bought and I want to at least open the game launcher.

Sometimes it gives me the error code EC:104, and other times it does not specify. I cannot open the app or know if it is fully installed since it immediately crashes. I have done everything including installing the launcher as admin, running repairs as admin, opening the launcher as admin, deleting my entire games library, disconnecting my second hard drive, changing from wired to wireless, updating all drivers, clearing my registry of anything from EA, deleting all old EA and origin related folders. I have had no luck with any of these things and the app keeps giving me errors that are in the screenshots. I get nothing but these things that pop up on my screen. It has been like this for FOUR MONTHS!!!!!!!! HELP PLEASE!

(cm edit - updated title to match similar error codes)

  • For further information, I use Xbox Gamespass for several of my games and have my EA account linked to Xbox. I don't think this should make a difference if I am simply just trying to launch from browser right? I used to have no issues with the EA app until right before they started kicking people out of Origin.

  • @pispartan117 Can you please make sure that you have Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable and DirectX installed?
  • Yes, I have even reinstalled them and I have done the thing where I go into my settings and repair the apps. No matter what, whenever I reinstall EA, it says that the app unexpectedly crashed and it does nothing.

I have made a separate account with admin privileges and tried to reinstall the app too with no luck.

@pispartan117 Maybe there is a software on your PC that is interfering with the EA app. For example, an antivirus software. Can you please try and temporarily disable your antivirus and see what happens. Don't forget to turn your antivirus back on after you finish testing.

I’ve had this same issue for three weeks and ea does not like me anymore lol. I’ve also done the steps as the poster did. I didn’t download an antivirus software (I only play offline for now) so if there is one installed, what would I look for to turn if off?

  • @pispartan117 I've had the same situation on and off since FEB. Every time it happens I just have to hope it works again. EA has ignored me on more than one occasion when seeking help and I'm so tired of absolutely nothing happening. If anyone finds something that could help I'd love to know. I've done everything suggested in this thread and it doesn't make any difference.
