EA App install fail

Hi guys, for 2 days been unable to play BF1, or any other game via Origin on PC for that matter, as trying to open Origin it wants me to install the EA app, which naturally fails and just says “Something went wrong…The EA app encountered an error and couldn’t finish installing.” Then it leaves you for dead.

Anyone else having this problem?

Hi @WoW_ParzivalSame problem over here. Errorreport sending for months now to the EA "droids" but nu solve.

So I downloaded MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcab from Microsoft site, run it and click [Next]:

    - if i click (problem with) "Installing" i cannot find any kind of EA application between the listed applications.

    - if i click (problem with) "Uninstalling" i cannot find any kind of EA application between the listed applications.

What are the *exact* steps you did to solve the issue using the Microsoft tool?

    thanks

  • Thanks for the question. Let me try to remember. (Edit: I just realized I'm pretty late replying. Sorry about that)

I had the program EA App installed at the time I ran the MS Uninstaller Troubleshooter. In my Downloads folder, it is called "MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcab" (same as yours).

I selected Uninstalling and then found EA app on the list. Let it finish and restarted.

If you don't have it installed, I would try to use the MSI installer version. You can also delete the files in your Programs Files folder(s).

Then I opened Epic Games launcher and saw it didn't detect that Jedi Fallen Order was installed (because it's an EA game). I clicked to install it, and Epic said it needed to install the EA App. I figured why not let it try. It worked to install and showed me the sign in box for the first time. Played my purchased EA games then.

But I never had an issue with installing or uninstalling the EA App program. I just couldn't open the program after it seemed to successfully install.

I spent a bunch of time going through the other boards and topics on here and trying stuff. I hope that helps you.

Here's the topic I opened and posted more of my steps (watch out for the sarcasm):

I'm also having this problem, and the error code is INST-14-265. My OS is a 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate, running on an ASUS K450C with an Intel Core i5 processor

Bonjour, j'ai le même problème mais votre solution n'a pas supprimé le message

  • Thank you So much I can finally play the sims 4 again. I had tried uninstalling origin and reinstalling it. I tried repairing all my CC++ programs for windows. I tried changing my local files settings. I tried updating my PC with all the optional updates. I tried Turing off my fire wall and allowing this EA app through.  This was the only thing that finally got the EA app to install correctly on Asus Gaming PC. 🙌
