EA app not connecting to the internet..

i just installed the EA app and bought the sims 2 legacy game, it stopped downloading at 2% and keeps pausing with the "EA app not connected to the internet" when i clearly have internet connection just fine...i tried to clear the cache and everything, nothing fixed it. why is the app not connecting to the internet but i can access the store and buy games?? i would appreciate the help.
