I've been having the same issue for about a month now, despite no changes on my end. I have the EA App set to automatically launch on Windows boot and this problem pops up at least half the times I turn my PC on.
As others said logging out and back in doesn't solve the issue, and neither does restarting the application.
Initially I worked around the problem by restarting the PC (far from ideal), but then I read somewhere that this might have to do with the EABackgroundService.exe process, and sure enough terminating this process from Task Manager allows me to restart the EA App into a working state... until next boot, then it's a coin flip again.
EA please make your game launcher launch games.
