I'm having a similar issue. The EA app doesn't open. It says "Connecting to EA app", disappears, then nothing. Task Manager shows the app running, but nothing. I've cleared the Cache, uninstalled, and reinstalled several times. EA support just tells me to clear caches. No help and not able to paly games I've paid for.

I saw that the Origin servers went down and I had to install the EA DESKTOP APP, when I installed the application I got this message on the screen: We couldn't find your account info. (Restart the app, sign in online, and select the "Keep me signed in" option so you can continue playing games offline)I went to your page https://www.ea.com/ea-app, and there I was logged into the account. When I returned to the application, there was the same message. I also changed the password from the account, but the application did not work. I don't know what is the problem, if anyone has any help.

Still having this issue, haven't been able to open the EA app. I opened a ticket and it looks like support didn't even read it, they just sent me a list of generic solutions and closed the ticket.

@megalizardon94 I'm not the only one having a ridiculous issue my computer told me I had to download the EA app I downloaded it and while it downloaded it it also deleted origin and now every single time I try to open the app it says oh snap something went wrong. I have even uninstalled and reinstalled checked all my computer settings nothing's worked and EA Games just keeps giving me a oh wait 72 hours will contact you thing and then they tell me to do exactly what I already did so I go and complain again and it does the 72-hour thing and tells me to do the exact same thing again

I went into the location folder and tried to open it that way and it failed to launch. I made sure I was set to administer and still no launch. I'm facing the same problem now that I tried to use EA Desktop instead of Origin. I already added exceptions for the app in Windows firewall as instructed here, but that didn't help, and neither did temporarily disabling the firewall in my router.
It'd be useful to know hostnames/IPs and port numbers that this app needs to connect to, so it'd be possible to test if this is a network issue of some kind.

Still having this issue, haven't been able to open the EA app. I opened a ticket and it looks like support didn't even read it, they just sent me a list of generic solutions and closed the ticket.

My solution for the moment is that I've reinstalled Origin. I have successfully gained access to my library again, done game repairs and successfully opened a game.
I do not want to struggle to access games I've paid for so I will stick with the Origin Launcher for the time being.

You need to be connected to the internet to get the latest version of Origin. Please check your connection and try again.
