The same happens when you install EA Desktop on the C:\ drive @PFindersDomain.

WHY the extra folder is in there, that I do not know, but I'm pretty sure that there is a logic behind it.

Any specific reason why you are raising this, as in it's causing issues, or just curious?

  • The extra folder is there, because the install takes the folder you select, and adds 'EA Desktop' to the end of the Path, then adds an additional 'EA Desktop' to where it puts the files, instead of putting the files in the folder you selected.

It's not an issue as such, it more of a visual thing. From a personal perspective, it looks like un-necessary and clumsy.

  • I have install a number of Game clients, even the Origin client did not have a double install folder. See attached.

This is really annoying. Hope they will fix this as soon as possible.

In the meanwhile I have found a fix which worked for me:

    1. Close EA Desktop App in Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL)
    2. Move the EA Desktop folder to the desired location.
    3. Remove EABackgroundService in Windows Services:
      https://www.majorgeeks.com/content/page/how_to_delete_a_service_in_windows_10_8_and_7.html
    4. Reboot PC.
    5. Install a new EABackgroundService:

      https://stackoverflow.com/questions/3582108/create-windows-service-from-executable
    6. Launch EA Desktop App
    7. Done 🙂

This basic issue was reported more than a year ago.

Can we get an update on when it will get fixed?

The reason for the eadesktop double install folder is that when ea app updates it creates a new folder with name outdatedeadesktop.

    Please see my photo.

So it seems to me that it is a limitation. With one only install folder, where it will install the outdatedeadesktop folder when ea updates.

Presumably the "outdatedeadesktop" folder could go somewhere else (perhaps into C:\ProgramData\EA Desktop?) and only be revived if necessary.
