Fix for failed game installation (EA App)

Hello EA App users,

If you are experiencing failed game installations using the EA App, please make sure that your game library folder is not the default folder set automatically by the EA App. Always make sure to install all your games at a custom game library folder that is not in the default C:\Program Files folder. For example, use C:\EA Games or D:\EA Games or anything else. Make sure to avoid the Program Files folder as that folder is problematic for old EA games that are not properly compatible with modern 64bit Windows. Once I did that I was able to install my C&C games, Mirror's Edge, and other classic EA Games.

    @TKlarka Can you please disable the EA app in-game overlay? Also, please try to repair The Sims 4 using the EA app and see what happens.

    Do you remember the error message that you received while trying to install those games in the default location?

    I can't remember the error message exactly, but what happened is that games failed to install after they finish downloading. They just don't complete installing, and I ended up with either a corrupted game installation or a game that doesn't install entirely.

    Thanks again for your feedback. And just to make sure, you are using the Windows admin account on your PC, correct?

    Yes. I am using an administrator Windows 10 user account.

    @Petr780 Ahoj. možná by jsi mi mohl poradit. včera The sims 4 jelo a dnes jsem koupila datadisk +baliček+ kolekci a pak to chtělo update. jenže se mi v 60procentech vypne. Už jsem zkoušela snad všechno ☹️

    @EA_Pulsar Hi, I bought another datadist + collection + stuff for The sims 4 game on the EA app. Then it needed an Update and it turns off at 60 percent. I can't even see the purchased content anymore. I don't have a problem with The sims 3, but still with The sims 4. I need an advice.

    @TKlarka Hello. I am here to assist you. What is the location where your EA App games are installed?

    If your games keep disappearing please restart the "EABackgroundService" process, and then start the EA App again. If it doesn't work, then do it again until all your games show up properly.

    @Petr780 I have The sims 3 in the C drive in a folder and I can't find The sims 4. There is only EAGames and Electronics Art subfolder. I first had The Sims 4 through Steam, but I canceled that and have downloaded it for free on the EA App and bought additional data discs. I just changed the language to CZ in the registry and the game ran. Today I bought 3 more supplements and it wanted an Update and it never finished, so I gave up after 4 hours of trying and looking for instructions.

    @TKlarka  Ok. First of all change the EA App game library folder from the EA App settings to "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games" or to "C:\EA Games" as that will help you with some other classic EA titles that don't install well in the default "C:\Program Files\EA Games" location based on my experience with the EA App.

    After that, uninstall The Sims 4 and re-install it again from the EA App.
