I've been trying to install Battlefield 2042 for awhile through EA Play. I do not own the game, and still had a few hours left on the 10hr trial so I wanted to finish that out. For the past few months, I get an error when trying to download the game through the EA app. For some reason, it seems to think that I own the "Gold Edition," but I've definitely never bought the game.
Whenever I click download, it says "Preparing..." for about 30 seconds before an error pops up saying there was an issue with the download and to try again later. I've tried a few different things, including:
- uninstalling and reinstalling the EA app
- deleting any game files I could find from previous installs
- installing to a different drive
No luck so far and it seems like there is something up with my account since it says "Gold Edition owned" on the product page but I have never purchased it. I've also tried installing other games and they work just fine.
Anyone else run into this or have ideas?
Thanks
having the same issue. was it resolved?

No. I've gone back and forth with EA support over a dozen emails (not kidding), and it's been absolutely useless. It's always a different customer service rep responding and they keep suggesting things that have already been suggested in previous emails. I'm pretty sure they don't even look at the previous correspondence and just assume you've done nothing... I haven't been able to find a way to talk to a live person (chat or phone) so who knows if I ever get this resolved
