Do I save it as All Files?
Those are the only 2 options, it doesn't save and disappear. If I overwrite the local file, it will then be a txt, not xml.
It shouldn't be changing the file extension. You are just using the 'save' option and not the 'save as' option. You also would not be changing the file name so, it should just save as 'local.xml'
I comprehend that computer stuff maybe difficult for you. And, maybe English is not your native language? Either of these things could make this process a bit challenging. That's why I have been patient and trying to help still.
At this point, I believe you should have been able to put that line of code into the file. And, if you can not save it correctly...... it is a 'local.txt' file now... then you can 'rename' the file. R-click the file. Choose Rename. Using arrow keys, go to end of file name. Then backspace to delete the three letters 'txt.' Then type xml and hit enter. It should now be named correctly as local.xml.
And, yes....when using notepad and trying to save a file with a different extension name, then choose 'All' in save as option field. Then you just type the 'dot' 'extension name' you want it to be. It will save it that way.
@tom_lookenYeah....I get your frustration. Believe it or not..... there's a ton of people out there that are almost computer illiterate trying to play PC games. I deal with it a lot on various gaming forums. Usually, it's either they have no clue when it comes to PC apps and computing or they are translating to a different language. And, people with English as their primary language tend to write in compound sentences with lots of adjectives without even thinking about it--me included. So, it makes for quite the challenge to translate and comprehend it correctly. Just have to take a deep breath, count to 10, and try not to smash your PC....lol.
