I want to play my EA Steam games with the Steam overlay

Hello,

A while ago I bought Battlefield 4(which I already had on Origin) on Steam at a discount. I also bought SW: Jedi Survivor, if only I knew how such a great game can be so poorly optimized(!!!) I would probably return it right away. But that's a debate for another time. Anyway, I played them perfectly fine with the Steam overlay. I could see the fps, I could respond to messages from friends on Steam and I was able to take screenshots too! Now I don't have that option because all the EA games I have on Steam don't run the Steam overlay but the EA app overlay, which I tried to turn off but Steam wouldn't load anymore. Unfortunately I've tried everything possible but I want to play my games on Steam and not on the EA app, which I really don't want on pc if I don't buy it on that platform. However, if this can't be done at least keep the Steam overlay for us. How do I fight this? Thx…

    Same.  Can’t play any ea games with steam overlay right now.

    As @fultpl mentioned in my bug report thread on the issue, it seems that the Steam overlay now only works if the EA overlay is enabled as well in the EA app. So go into the EA desktop app, click the 3 bars in the top left (some call it a "hamburger menu") and go to settings, then go to "Application" and turn on the overlay option near the bottom. Personally I turned off some in-game notifications just above that option so I hopefully don't get bothered by them in-game.

    As drift king said, the way to use steam input and steam overlay in EA games is to turn the EA overlay ON. It used to be that the EA overlay broke steam input, but it seems now that the overlay is needed for the steam overlay to function. Turning that on in EA settings fixed steam input for me!
