iDEAL Payment Option Unavailable on EA app and Web in NL/BE (Since Oct. 2024)

For about a week (since me writing this), I have been unable to use the iDEAL payment method when attempting to make purchases through the EA app. After selecting iDEAL as my payment option, I receive the following error message:


"We're unable to process your order at this time due to an issue with your provided payment method. Please use a different payment method to complete your order, or try again later."


Additionally, when trying to make a purchase on the EA website, the iDEAL option no longer appears at all. Previously, iDEAL would show up on the website, but it would give me the same error message when trying to complete the transaction. Now, the option is missing entirely.

My EA account region and EA app region are both set to "Netherlands" and I have successfully used iDEAL as a payment method in the past.

Could this issue please be investigated?

    Thanks for reaching out about the removal of iDEAL as a payment option for purchases on the EA app and website (https://ea.com) in the Netherlands and Belgium.

    Due to some ongoing technical issues between our systems and iDEAL, this payment option isn’t available right now. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this causes and, unfortunately, don’t have an estimate on if or when it might return.

    In the meantime, we suggest trying other payment options like PayPal or credit card for purchases through the EA app or website.

    Thanks for your understanding, and apologies again for the inconvenience.

    I have the exact same problem here and I am located in the netherlands just like the screenshots shown in a message above. 

    Only the payment methods shown in another messsage are options. Please can this be fixed?!

    Exactly the same here, couldn't buy the 2 new kits I wanted last week, got the same message. Now I thought I'd try again, but now Ideal is gone from the payment options.

    The payment methods in the EA app have changed. I checked today, and it no longer shows iDeal as an available option.

    @EA_Leeuw I have exactly the same problem. If I fill in the details of my IBAN and name and then click on ''pay now'' the pop-up shows up for me too. I hope this can be fixed soon, especially with the sale going on right now. I also have every setting correct.

    Yes, I'm physically located in the Netherlands, and my app region is also set to the Netherlands.

    Around the time when the Ideal payment method stopped appearing on the EA website, I noticed a change in the appearance of the Ideal payment option in the EA app. Previously, it didn't ask for my international bank account number and owner's name. I could just select Ideal as the payment option and press continue. 

    Unfortunately trying to use ideal as a payment option on the EA app now causes this error message to appear:

    "We're unable to process your order at this time due to an issue with your provided payment method. Please use a different payment method to complete your order, or try again later."

    The EA website does not display Ideal as a payment option, while the EA app does show Ideal as a payment option, albeit in a different way than previously.

    @CallMeVRightNow, cheers for the screenshots! So looking at the screenshot of the EA app methods, it correctly shows the iDEAL payment method, right? And I assume that you're physically located in the Netherlands or Belgium as well, plus that your EA app store region is set to the Netherlands?

    So this means that the EA app shows it correctly for you, right? But only the https://ea.com or https://ea.com/nl-nl website (or rather the website where you're being redirected to when checking The Sims 4 for example) for you is missing the iDEAL payment method?

    I’ve never tried purchasing anything from the 'ea.com/nl-nl' version of the website. For some games, like The Sims, you will be redirected to the main 'ea.com' site.

    In the past, I’ve used iDeal to make purchases on the 'ea.com' website, and the option was available then.

    The screenshots are taken from the 'ea.com' website and the EA app.

    Would it perhaps be possible to include a screenshot of the available payment methods that are visible to you on the ea.com/nl-nl website and in the EA app?
