Forum Discussion
Hello everyone,
Thank you for continuing to report the "The app crashed unexpectedly" and "Background Services Crashed" errors on the EA app for Mac.
We've heard from some players that updating your Mac to the latest macOS version, including incremental updates, can resolve the issue. Additionally, some users have found that a simple restart of their machine helps.
Updating the client
For those still experiencing the problem after trying these solutions, we've released a new version of the EA app for Mac (13.206) that will hopefully address the issue. The EA app periodically automatically checks for updates and will install this version when you next launch the client. However, if the EA app won't boot, you can download the latest version directly from https://www.ea.com/ea-app.
We will also be releasing additional fixes in the coming weeks.
Still experiencing the issue?
Please let us know how things go after trying these steps. If the issue persists, check the first post on page 1 of this thread and continue to provide the requested data.
Thank you.
y'all I cannot believe I'm saying this but I found the dumbest "workaround" to get the game to lauch... I double clicked the freaking sims 4 app in applications...
the EA app did activate at this point which made me worried, and it took a minute or two, but the second that beautiful lil green plumbob swooped around on my screen I nearly cried with relief. pls don't judge me, sims is like the only enjoyable thing in this world right now lol (thanks to incredible MODDERS, NOT EA). looks like they put out a new ea app version, so try that first, but if that still doesn't work, try and just double click Sims 4 in your applications folder.
