My game (Alice: Madness Returns) won't launch (error message)
Hello, I installed the game "Alice: Madness Returns" but every time I try to launch the game, I get an error message that says that there was a problem with the installation of the game, and that I should re-install the game.
I've tried this several times, as well as repairing the game, clearing EA app cache and re-installing the EA app. None of this worked.
I've contacted EA help three times now but none of them have been able to help me.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
More info:
I use the EA app, I have Windows 11, I get this error message every time I try to open the game, I haven't been able to actually play it before because of this.
I fixed it!!!
Turned out that the game isn't compatible with my Windows 11.
To make it compatible, I had to download some stuff:
1) Network frame 3.5
2) directx 9.0c Runtimes
3) Visual C++ (not sure if this is required, but I did download it)1- Net framework 3.5
you can add Net framework 3.5 on Windows 10/11 via the control panel (or configuration screen?).how to get it
-press Win+R
-type: OptionalFeatures
-and press enter.
-Now, you'll see a whole list, and you want to click on the map called ".NET Framework 3.5"
-You'll see 2 more boxes that you can click. I personally clicked both of them, but only the upper one is necessary.
-now, you click on "ok" and follow the further instructions. your Windows will automatically download and install everything that's necessary.
-restart your pc (not always needed, but always a good idea)2- Directx 9.0c Runtimes
-go to the official microsoft download page (you can just type in "microsoft directx" and it'll get you there)
-now just click the download button
-click on the file once it's downloaded and it'll guide you through the installation, you just have to follow the instructions, and eventually finish the installation.again, it's a good idea to restart your pc after an installation, but not always needed.
3- Visuals C++
This is probably the easiest.
You just have to search "microsoft Visual c++" and it'll bring you to their website where they have the newest versions of it.
I personally downloaded both 86x and 64x, because that's what EA-help adviser told me to do (I'm not sure how it works lmao)And then again, click on the files once downloaded and it'll guide you through the installation. It'll ask you to restart your pc at the end, although I installed both of them before restarting my pc to save time
This is what I did, and now the game works perfectly fine. Don't hesitate to react/reach out if there are any questions!
