Sims 2 Legacy: Children Disappearing Bug

This is the second time this has happened. My sims family will have a child and they will randomly disappear from existence. They disappear from the lot, the family tree, ect. I thought that maybe my child starved and was picked up by child custody, however when I came back from an earlier game file they didn't exist. The only correlation between the two is that when my sims traveled and came back the glitch happened and my children were gone. This is a serious bug that I hope gets resolved. 

I've also checked other forums and other players are experiencing the same issue.
