Same with Sims 4, but on PC and through the EA app (since Origin forcibly shut itself down mid-game to make me download EA instead). Go to play the game, and it decides it needs to "update", which inevitably means "redownload the entire game and all its expansions". Which, for Sims 4, is about 10g just for the two or three I have.
So. ....What the hell?

Is your game trying to update every time you launch the EA app and try to play? Let's clear the cache for the app following the steps here and run a repair on The Sims 4. To run a repair, from your game library, click The Sims 4 game tile and select the 3 dots and the upper right corner, and you'll see the repair option there.
If you're till being prompted for an update each time you open the app, please let me know.
