The Sims 4 Crash on Start Up

I haven't been able to open The Sims 4 for months and cannot figure out how to fix it. The game never gets past the first loading page. It starts to load then freezes, the mouse icon gets big, then the game crashes and takes me back to my home screen. I have done everything from removing all mods, moving the sims 4 folder to my desk top, uninstalling the app, reinstalling the app, uninstalling EA app, reinstalling EA app, tried to run program through steam but still need the EA app. I have even taken my computer to Best Buy and Micro Center and had them run diagnostic tests and they said my computer was working perfectly and was more than capable off running the game- I had played the game on my computer in the past with no problem, so I cannot think of what the problem is. Even after taking my computer to two places, they were not able to figure out why the game wasn't working. Does anyone know how to fix this? I have spent months trying different things but it seems impossible.

I attached the dxdiag report, not sure what any of it means but someone suggested doing so and posting it on here. HELP!

  • kg252016  Please try forcing the game to launch in windowed mode.  Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, open Options.ini, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).

If that doesn't help, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time you most recently tried to open Sims 4.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

Okay I tried all of the above but still not working plus no error code is generated. I waited a few hours and it still hasn’t reported any errors

I am getting these error codes though which is weird. Do you think it has to do with Sims 4 not working though?

  • kg252016  I wouldn't normally expect this software to prevent Sims 4 from working, but if these errors are appearing when the game crashes, that would be highly suspicious.  However, that could also be due to the software trying to report on or address the problem that's crashing the game, but the software is crashing too.  It's difficult to say just from this information.

What you can do is kill anything related to Dell SupportAssist in the Task Manager before trying to play.  (If the name is slightly different, that's fine, and to be honest, you could kill everything Dell-related and you'd likely not notice any ill effects.)  Check the background processes list too.  The app and related services will likely restart with Windows, but if they restart on their own before that, let me know.  There are more intrusive ways to stop a service from running.

Please test the game without the app and related services running, and let me know both whether you can play and whether these same errors appear in the Reliability Monitor if and when the game crashes.
