"There's a problem with your download"/"Something went wrong" EA app Error - '24

my game will not update at all. whenever I try to, it never gets past preparing. it always says "Something went wrong" and I don't understand what. I've been trying to update my game for the past week now and it's not getting anywhere. I'm extremely upset and confused about what it could be. I have high-speed internet and my game is on a separate drive. this game did not need another update or pack since it was working completely fine but now the EA app is broken and I cannot even play offline since I've already updated my mods. I'm stuck and I have no clue what to do.
