I am more curious as to why they had not discovered this issue before or even as a rough draft.
I am suffering from the same thing as well, not only does the origin method not work, trying to install a whole new version, or back peddle to pervious files do not work either from saved updates.
this is rather annoying, not only did i buy it back in April of 22 but if anyone paid for this game should receive premium customer service and others who got it for free....well....you didnt pay haha.
They didn't discover the issue because most players tend to play the game fully online and connected, instead of in offline mode or without internet access period. They assumed everything worked well instead of.... actually testing it and finding out the issue.
Even the My cases teams found out recently and the game team is "looking into it" and will have it fixed soon. Don't know how long "soon" is because this issue is (by EA standards) a minor issue, unlike the "age up death" bug from a few months ago.

This is a major problem for me right now with the new update about to get pushed soon... I won't be able to go into offline mode to prevent my game from updating, so all of my mods will break and I won't be able to play any of my current saves for who knows how long while I wait for the mods to update. I've been having such a hard time finding any posts about it not working with specifically Steam in offline mode.
- 3 years agoFound a temporary workaround if you happened to have used Origin well before the forced EA app. After the EA app is installed, reinstall Origins and follow the instructions on this page to remove the popup:
Then let Origins do all of it's "updates" and run the Sims 4 a few times With Origins up FIRST before clicking it. After a few times, Steam will open it in Origins over the EA app hopefully and then you can go back and use Origins to play the game in offline mode without worry of being forced to update before your mods are current.
Oh and as an update to those hoping they have a fix for the EA app soon, there is no fix. In fact I asked in my cases a few weeks ago and they left the message with a "No fix available" before closing the cases entirely.
