Hierarchical Post Structure Broken
Hi!
One thing that I first noticed is a different post structure: hierarchical, where replies go under the comment replied to rather than into a new comment.
As Spoiler tags were already having issues (post on it made here), I made new guide posts using the hierarchical post structure instead. These include:
- List of Traits in The Sims 4 - where I use the hierarchical structure to make sub-categories to my category heading post.
- EgonVM's Ultimate NPC Making Guide 2.0 - where I use the hierarchical structure to categorize each entry by their pack of origin and type.
- Compatibility & Self-Discovery Explained - where I use the hierarchical structure to have the header post explain the feature and the following posts replied to it detailing each entry/category/preference.
However, I have noticed that something is off... The replies aren't put into the comment replied to and the old replies have also been separated into separate comments. This frustrates me as I have worked hard to put the guides together the way they look and now these are broken. Fortunately I have put links through which people can move to the entry they want to, so they can use that for now.
Yet, I was getting used to hierarchical structure and have made discussions that depend on it, so I thought that I'd make this report.
Thanks for the feedback.
Generally we've found that folks leaned towards requesting Linear layout, which is why it's been changed in a bunch of places, but sorry for the impact it had on your carefully arranged content.
It's worth noting that for anyone that prefers threaded, you can swap at any time by going to your settings page and updating the Display Format. Not quite as smooth as an in-thread option, but hopefully helpful.
