100% Locked Out
A short version of the story from start to finish.
I pre-order Battlefield 6; goes through just fine. I go watch a stream and get a key to play the beta; goes through just fine BUT just like everyone else on the discussion board at this time (08/07/2025) my steam is linked to an old EA account I cannot get into because of an ancient email (Yahoo) that I don't have access to.
I figured I'd just be able to go through the motions and fix it, exhaust all my options before comming here. I goto Yahoo and try to long into the ancient email because I've still got the password; it's connected to an old phone number I don't have anymore. I tried texting and calling the old number to see if a complete stranger would be willing to tell me a verification code just to get into the ancient email. No reply, no voicemail box, phone number isn't taken as far as I've seen. I goto the Yahoo customer support page; find nothing. I call their "Premium" phone support and before these money hungry gobblins even try to take my money, they ask me 20 questions then tell me they can't even attempt to recover that email address.
Not only can I not unlink an ancient email address from my current and up to date steam account, but I wont even be able to play the game I just spent $100 pre ordering let alone ANY future EA games because there are currently 0 other solutions from what I've been able to find. There's nothing on steam for me to unlink my account from anywhere it's been linked to and the customer support section on EA's own website isn't even operational?
This is far beyond frustrating and infuriating, I hope that somehow some way EA is able to address this since it seems to be such a prevalent issue from what I'm seeing here in the discussion forums. If not, then EA just locked out hundreads if not thousands of people from even thinking of ever purchasing an EA product again considering they'll just be locked out. I'll give this a few days to see if a solution comes up and if not; you can bet your sweet bippy im refunding this as well as any other goofball that pre-ordered this will. It's genuinly insane that this is so prevalent and without a solution considering EA wants 100m players at launch.
