2012's "Worst Company in America" for a reason

I was excited to hop online today when I found out you can get early access to the BF6 beta until I tried to get into my EA account....

I've been a gamer for the better part of 20 years, so the EA account tied to my current gamertag was made using my old email from college. That email/email account has long since been deactivated by the university and I have no way of accessing it. Somehow I managed to remember my password only to get the "Verification sent to your email" which is fairly standard practice these days, except for the fact that the email address DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE. 

After doing some research and reading some completely useless FAQs, it doesn't sound like EA is willing to do anything about this. From what I've read and seen in these forums, there is no fix and the "solutions" from EA are useless. So I guess my EA/gamertag is forever linked to a dead email account.
