Email Hacked & Can't Access Account

Hoping for some advice on how to proceed with my issue as I've been trying all over to get in touch with support or get help for this and I can't seem to get anywhere!

Last week the email I use that's linked to my EA account was hacked (I've had to make a new account to post here). I can no longer access my inbox, and in turn I can no longer sign in. Every time I try to sign in or recover my EA account, it sends an email to my hacked inbox that I can't see, and stupidly I didn't set up any 2FA or link a phone number to my account.

I'm in the process of trying to recover my hacked emails, but I'd also like to change the email address on my EA account in case I can't and also because the hackers had been going around requesting password changes on a bunch of other accounts, so I want to secure this one.

What should I do in this situation where I cannot recover my EA account? I can't seem to find a way to contact support anywhere and I'm worried that I've now just lost access to everything I had on my account. Any advice appreciated, or just a realistic view of how screwed I am. Thanks!

  • Hi altap1410,

Having your email/account hacked is awful, and it’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed when it starts affecting all your other accounts. But you’re definitely not stuck, and creating this new account was a smart first step to get things moving again.

Just to set expectations: nobody here on the public forums (including EA staff who moderate here) can change emails or access accounts directly.

Only EA Support can do that. But you can reach them even if your main account is completely locked.

You can use the new account you’re posting from right now to open a ticket with a real advisor. Here’s the simplest way to avoid the automated loop:

    1. Log in to help.ea.com using your new/temporary EA account.
    2. Scroll down the homepage until you reach the “Help by topic” section.
    3. Click on the tile called “EA Account support. ”
    4.  Choose one of these options:

In your ticket, explain that your primary email was hacked and you need to move your EA account to a secure address. Include as much proof of ownership as you can:

    • your EA ID / Username
    • the old (hacked) email
    • your Date of Birth
    • any linked accounts (Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, etc.)
    • any CD keys, receipts, or transaction IDs from past EA purchases

As long as you can provide enough details
to show the account is yours, Support can manually update the email and secure everything for you.

You’re not screwed, you just need to get your case in front of the right team, and you already have the information they’ll ask for.

Little reminder about weekends: live chat availability depends heavily on your region and time zone (for example, here in Italy it’s closed right now because it’s Sunday). Even if chat is offline, you should still be able to open an email ticket, and that’s enough to get your case into the queue for a real human to review.
