The issue is that ea reset password appears to have an issue as I reset the password and then when I try to sign on using the same username and password (for my son) it states it is an incorrect password
This would indicate that the EA Account was temporarily disabled, (which happens when an EA Account wasn't used in a long time), but not to worry!
You'll just need to contact EA Support to have them reactivate your son's EA Account.

Note: EA Accounts are typically disabled to help protect them from being hacked as the account's owner may not be actively watching its activity, (which is also why you may see that the email on the account is registered to a "disabled@ea" email).
If you are having issues with contacting EA Support using the link above, you should be able to open up a case with them here as well: EA Help | Contact EA, (and since you aren't able to sign into your son's EA Account, be sure to click on "continue as guest" which will let you create a case for your son's account as it will ask you for the name on your son's account as well as the email address that is associated with it).
Do know that if your son's account is currently a child account, there are some limitations such as:
- No Online Multiplayer:
Child accounts generally cannot access online multiplayer modes in games, especially on PC and Mac.
- No Purchases:
Child accounts cannot make purchases through the EA app or online stores, including games, in-game content, or EA Play subscriptions.
- No Social Interaction:
Child accounts cannot add friends, use chat features, or engage in social interactions within EA's online services.
- Limited Access to Websites:
Child accounts may have restricted access to certain EA websites and apps.
If your son's account is a child account, you may also have some parental control settings in place that is affecting his account as well: EA Help | How parental controls impact child accounts
If you are needing help with upgrading his account, here's a support article to help you with that as well: EA Help | Upgrade a child account to a teen account.
Hope this helps!
