Unable to access old EA account and can't link new one to Xbox account

So basically, a long time ago I had an EA account, that account was linked to both my Xbox account and an old yahoo email. However I can't login to that old account, I can't delete that old account, and I can't unlink that old account from my Xbox account. I can very easily prove ownership of the Xbox/Microsoft account but I just have this dead link to nothing that I can't remove.

To preface again with emphasis, I cannot access this old EA account, no way to recover it as both the recovery email and recovery phone number are over a decade old and no longer in use/deleted. How can I unlink this dead account from my Xbox account? Do I have to ask Microsoft to do it or do I have to go through EA? It's really annoying trying to play EA games and not having access to things because an old dead account is linked with nothing for me to do about it.

Edit: Some additional info, I have already tried to link this new EA account I am posting with to my Xbox account and it won't let me as it says the Xbox account is already linked.

It's stupid. All an unlinking should require is proof you control the Steam/PlayStation/Xbox account and from there have it unlinked.

  • Good luck trying to get in contact with the support team. I have a similar issue that my PSN account is linked to a disabled EA email. Submitted the issue 1 week ago with a full problem disctiption and got 2 automatic emails with the same content in it. Up unitl now it was not clear to me that the do not handle issue throught the mail or something, when you submit a issue you will have to stay in the chat which appears very small in the bottom right corner. But the waiting times are 7 hours! why do they expect poeple to wait 7 hours behinde a screen to get a issue resolved?

I reached out to Microsoft and got a support representative first try. I informed them of this situation. Obviously there’s nothing that they can do because it’s an EA issue. My request was that support elevate to Sales & Marketing because I am not alone and the implication is that I won’t be able to play any EA games.

I asked for a refund on my PreOrder of BF6.

This is also my exact issue down to the university :).  Did you go to Kansas?

I also have the same issue.  I don't really understand this reason for this policy from a programmers perspective.  It seems like a simple hash or date field in the db could be used to prevent multiple installs or even block access to an old account if a new one were linked.  At a bare minimum, just require a 1 year wait before unlinking accounts???

If there is some valid 'code' reason for this, then it still seems very easy to at least 'auto-delete' account links after 1... 2... or 3 years of zero activity.

It seems like there are a lot of people that want to give EA a 2nd chance and try BF6 (me included), but will be unable to do so unless we move to a new game console or PC.
