Unlinking/Relinking (6 month wait)

I’ve somehow managed to lose years of progress and purchases across Apex Legends and Battlefield after trying to sort out two EA accounts I’ve had for 15+ years.

I wasn’t even sure which account was which, so I was simply trying to work out which one had my PS5/Steam accounts, purchases and progression before consolidating them. Instead, my Apex progress and unlocks are now wrong, and my Battlefield progress and purchases are missing.

What makes this even more frustrating is being told I have to wait 6 MONTHS before I can unlink/relink the account again. Six months to fix an account-linking issue? That is wild. Other companies seem to manage this relatively easily.

I’ve already spoken to EA Support but I’m still no closer to getting my account, purchases and years of progress back. Actually, they abruptly ended my conversation when I requested an escalation and gaslit me saying it was a security measure when I was happy to supply security information and then pivoted to saying it was a policy/process issue? Which one was it?

Who do I actually speak to about getting this resolved?

EA, surely there has to be a better solution than losing months over an account-linking process.

    Hey AmokBSN,

If you hit a service limit for unlinking and relinking your EA and platform accounts, please reach out to the Customer Support team again using the Contact us button at the bottom of this guide to check with an advisor whether there's anything else that can be done in your case.

I understand how disappointing it would be to lose all those years of progress. I can't promise it'll be possible to get your old account and progress linked back; unlinking accounts comes at a risk of issues with progress and unlocks depending on the game, but our advisors will do their best to continue helping you.

If there's no way to help you in this circumstance, unfortunately, that's not something we can change here on EA Forums; the EA staff here don't have visibility into your account and links to make any changes.

Thank you for your patience with this.

  • Hi Claus,

    Many thanks for your response.

The only reason I’ve ended up posting on the forums is because the agents I’ve been speaking with have told me they aren’t able to resolve this. I specifically requested an escalation to someone with the necessary administrative permissions to bypass the limitations of the agent I’m dealing with. However, it seems that even the escalated support team can only respond based on the information and permissions available to them.

I understand that there is a risk involved, but I don’t believe an account containing significant progress should simply be automatically deleted. If that were the case, it would create a major issue for accounts that have been compromised, particularly where services have been unlinked or other changes have been made by someone who gained unauthorised access. Logically, I would therefore expect the account and its associated progress/data to remain retained.

Lastly, I do want to raise some concerns regarding the customer support experience. The agents are friendly and helpful initially, which I appreciate. However, once you ask for further assistance or challenge the response provided, the conversation is often closed immediately after they quote the relevant policy. This makes it extremely difficult to get an issue properly escalated or resolved when the initial response doesn’t address the specific circumstances.

I’m simply asking for this to be reviewed by someone with the appropriate administrative access who can properly investigate the account and determine whether the progress and associated data can be recovered. Otherwise and I'm sure you'll see, this  becomes a death loop of asking an agent and then coming back here when they cant assist.

Many thanks again for your help. I'll try once more.

I also hope you will be able to recover your original links and progress.

I understand you'd like the situation to be escalated and reviewed further, but that's not something the EA staff here on EA Forums can help you with directly, sorry.

Only our Customer Support advisors can determine whether your account is eligible for unlinking/relinking beyond the service limits.
