Country Region - USA / Verizon Fiber Wi-Fi / Router VZPD - CR1000A / Nintendo Switch 2
The below are the same for me as listed by diglettusedfly
- Error appears when I select play online from the main menu, before I'm able to host a game or send an invite
- After switching to a hotspot, I was able to get into the online hosting menu (the error didn't appear). After switching back to WiFi and restarting, the error appeared as it has in the past.
Thanks for confirming -- this is useful to see across multiple setups.
Based on what’s been shared so far, this isn’t pointing to a problem with the game itself or EA servers. The key detail is that connecting through a different network (like a hotspot) works, but the issue returns on home WiFi.
That indicates the connection is being affected by how the network is handling it -- most commonly related to router configuration, NAT type, or how the ISP routes or filters certain traffic. Different games and platforms use different connection methods, so it’s possible for this to show up in one title but not others.
Because the connection succeeds on an alternate network, the service itself is reachable and functioning. The failure is happening during the initial connection on specific networks.
If you’re continuing to run into this, the most effective things to check are:
- NAT type on the Switch (should be open or moderate)
- Router settings such as firewall or security features
- A full router restart (power off for at least a minute)
- Testing on another WiFi network to compare behavior
The hotspot workaround also aligns with this, as it forces a different network path for the connection.
If more people share their setup details, it may help identify any common factors between affected networks.
