Split Fiction Crashing Issue "fatal error" on Steam (friend's pass)

hope you're doing well. I am experiencing an issue with Split Fiction on Steam and would appreciate your assistance.

Issue Details:

  • Platform: Steam (PC)
  • Error Message : fatal error
  • Recent Hardware Change:
  • Today, I upgraded my RAM. I previously had 12GB (3 sticks, all double-sided), and I added a 4GB single-sided stick. Could this mismatch be causing instability in the game?
  • Description of the Problem: The game used to crash at the same spot consistently showing the fatal error thing. I used to check my task manager and I see my ram is almost 100% but this time after adding the ram I tried so many times only once my cpu was a bit almost 100% but with the other tries task manager info were fine. However today, I was able to skip that section, but after playing for another minute, it crashed again. Additionally, when I click "Play," Steam notifies me that I should update my GPU drivers. My GPU is outdated (version 475), while your recommended version is 536. However, I have previously played demanding games like Sekiro, Elden Ring, and Assassin’s Creed without any issues despite requiring updated drivers.

Unfortunately, upgrading my GPU is not an option due to financial constraints. I would appreciate any advice on possible fixes or optimizations to improve stability.

I ALSOOOO lowered my settings from the beginning

System Specifications:

  • CPU: Intel i7-3770
  • GPU: GTX 670 (Driver version 475)
  • RAM: 16GB total (12GB double-sided + new 4GB single-sided)
  • OS: 10

Please let me know if there are any workarounds or settings I can adjust to resolve this issue. Pleaseeeee i want to play the gameeee. Thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards,  <33

gpu drivers the ones that i have, are the only ones provided by NVIDIA itself ,apparently the last updates for it. It's so upsetting that i wont be able to play the game :((((

thank you for trying to help me though!

Elvirtuosa Thanks for the screenshots. So, from that, it looks like it is a GPU issue since the one you currently have is under the minimum requirements for the game. The drivers for them are also way out of date.

You can update the main GPU drivers and change the settings to lower )not ultra or high) - but ultimately you may have to do an upgrade on your GPU.

well i tried a new user account for Windows - Safe Mode with networking - safe mode, etc. it didnt work

also i tried the "can you run it" thing , as it shows here below in the screenshots , and another example of elden ring game it ran in my pc

so i dont know what's the issue , perhaps elden ring is a bit forgiving while split since it's a new game it's strict?

Elvirtuosa Ram upgrade would help but would not be a reason the game "crashes". Crashing is typically due to your system being under requirements, or a virus, or a program interfering.

You can try a new user account for Windows - Safe Mode with networking - safe mode, etc.

I would also go to the Can You Run It site, and see how your system compares to if you can run it. If you can, there is another underlying issue.

Unfortunately, the game still crashes after 2mins of playing. as you see in the video it stoped and after, the fatal message appeared

I also upgraded my RAM today, and now I have all double-sided RAM (16GB total). Could this issue be related to something else?

Since I can’t upgrade my GPU due to budget constraints, is there any other fix I can try?

    :(((((((

Elvirtuosa It looks like you have several Windows Error Reporting (WER) entries related to application and kernel events. Here's a brief overview: This was pulled directly from your report. Not all of these are necessary, but personally, I run through them anyway, as it will take about 5-10 min to do them.

    1. RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64: This indicates potential memory leaks in applications like RiotClientServices.exe and Discord.exe. It’s not a critical error but suggests these applications might be using memory inefficiently.

    2. LiveKernelEvent (Code 141): This often relates to hardware issues, particularly with graphics drivers. It could be a sign of a GPU problem or driver instability.

    Troubleshooting Steps:

    Delete Windows Temp Files

First, make sure you close as many programs as you can
Press the Windows key + R, go into the file explorer
Type in %temp%, and hit Enter
Delete everything it allows you to delete
    Reboot the PC

    Optional Registry clean-up

install Revo (it's free) from here
    Run Registry cleaner
    Click review selected issues
Do you want to back up? No
    Click Fix all selected issues
