Wild Hearts crash

I recently purchased Wild Hearts on Steam, but I'm having trouble because the game keeps crashing. After watching the character creation movie, the game crashes, and when I try to start a new game, it crashes again after the opening movie. I've tried verifying the integrity of the game files, reinstalling the game, lowering the graphics settings, and checking the Dxdiag, but nothing has resolved the issue. What should I do to fix this?

    Thank you!

It sounds like you’ve already tried some solid troubleshooting steps, but here are a few additional things to check:

First, ensure your graphics drivers are fully updated. Your RTX 4070 SUPER is running driver version 32.00.15.6636 (dated 2024-12-03). It's recommended that you visit NVIDIA's website to confirm that you have the latest version optimized for your GPU.

Next, check your display settings—disable HDR if it’s enabled, as your monitor doesn’t seem to support it. Also, check if you can set a single default playback device in Windows to avoid conflicts with multiple audio outputs, like NVIDIA High Definition Audio or your Yamaha AG06/AG03.

If the crashes persist, try increasing your system’s virtual memory (page file) or enabling Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling under Settings > System > Display > Graphics Settings in Windows. Disabling overlays (GeForce Experience, Discord, Steam) can also help.

Lastly, if none of this resolves the issue, check the Event Viewer under Windows Logs > Application for error messages tied to the crashes. If you could share those, that would be great.

Let me know how it goes.

  • Hi there,

Sorry about the crashes! Try these steps:

    1. Update your graphics drivers.
    2. Run the game as Administrator.
    3. Turn off overlays (Steam, Discord, etc.).
    4. Close background apps.
    5. Reinstall Visual C++ Redistributables.
    6. Check for game updates.

If nothing works, contact the game’s support team with your system specs and crash logs. Hope this helps!

    CM edit: removed shady link

  • If Wild Hearts keeps crashing, try updating GPU drivers, disabling overlays, running as administrator, closing background apps, increasing virtual memory, disabling fullscreen optimizations, checking CPU/GPU temps, using windowed mode, and checking Event Viewer for errors. If the issue persists, check Steam forums for known bugs. Hope this helps!

  • To add context I do see an event log on this issue:

Looking up what this means it's apparently pretty generic.

  • I just had a conversation with support around this same issue and they told me they would open a case around this. looking this up online in different forums it looks like a lot of people have this issue. a lot of people comment about how they never had a problem playing this game before and they did a whole first play-through back when the game first came out but now suddenly they can't get past the first cut-scene in attempting to play the game again. I'm going to attach my DxDiag out here in case it helps anyone else or support figure this out.
