Any progress on unlinking lost accounts?

I keep waiting for someone to come up with a system for verifying identification so we can unlink old accounts. My Microsoft account got hijacked back in the FIFA card pack hacks days and the intruders linked it with their EA account and I can't and won't ever find out what email they used. This was like, 10 years ago. I still can't log in to EA with my Microsoft account, even though I can prove I have ownership of the Microsoft account and I cannot unlink it on Microsoft's end, it's like my account is just trapped by EA. I understand that account security is important, but there will always be edge cases that need addressed. I'm also afraid I'm providing EA Play access to the EA account that is attached to my Xbox account, literally giving the hackers free access to it and being completely unable to stop it.
