EA play/ game pass games will not start downloading (NO ERROR MESSAGE)

So I connected my Xbox account to my ea account in order to play game pass ea games. Naturally I go to install a game (star wars battlefront 2). Ea desktop launches, it takes me to the game page, shows a loading screen for about a second and then... nothing. No download starts and no error message appears. So i then try to download the game from EA desktop directly rather than through game pass and still, nothing happens. Strangely however when I went to download apex legends in order to see whether all games would not download it started downloading just fine, which leads me to believe that the downloads only don't work for ea play (game pass) games.

Further more I think it will be helpful to mention that I have already uninstalled and re installed both the Xbox app and the EA desktop app. And I have also changed UAC settings as I heard that could be a solution but alas non of these things came close to fixing the issue
