your EA Play subscription has expired

game starts and closes after sims 4 logo and ea app shows subscription has expired. but I never had the subscription active before and I purchased everything through steam

Hey Arthur Gibraltar,

Good to hear that the clean user folder approach got the game to launch. Were you able to add the folders back and have the game load past the Sims 4 logo? That, or were you able to identify which folder was triggering the crashing?

With the EA App subscription expired message, if you own the base game and DLCs through Steam, it likely isn't contributing to the crashing. If you're concerned about it or notice any changes in your library, feel free to connect with live support and have them take a look at the EA account to make sure everything is good.

tried to unlink and link my steam account again; no success
tried to clear ea app cache; no success
tried to verify game file integrity on Steam; no success
tried to allow api.statsigcdn.com and *.statsigapi.net through my firewall; no success

my firewall blocks the following trackers: js-agent.newrelic.com and s.go-mpulse.net
are they strictly necessary for the game to launch?

tried rebooting my pc; no success
tried removing mods; no success

tried removing the whole The Sims 4 folder from Documents: success but no save files
what I'm doing now: re-adding folders one by one to The Sims 4 folder
