Make Ultimate Team a Standalone Live Service Game
ear EA Sports Development Team,
I’m a long-time fan of your football games since the FIFA series up to EAFC today. I’m writing to share a sincere suggestion about the Ultimate Team (UT) mode.
As someone from a middle-income background who truly loves playing football games, I’ve often felt discouraged from investing more into Ultimate Team because every year, I have to buy a new game and start my team from zero. This annual reset makes it risky for players like me with limited budgets to spend confidently, even though we’d love to support your game further.
If you could separate UT into a live service game — like you already do with FC Online — where the team does not reset every year, it would give players like me (and many others in the same situation) confidence to spend more consistently. In fact, I believe it would generate more long-term revenue than selling new games annually, because:
- Many players with lower or middle income want to invest in building their dream team long-term if their investment is not wiped out every year.
- Players who spend heavily already will continue to do so, regardless of whether UT is separated or not.
- EA’s football games are already the world’s #1 in quality and popularity — you have the best foundation to pioneer a fairer, more sustainable model that welcomes all players to participate.
Personally, I’m a huge fan of EA football games, but the yearly reset is the only thing holding me back from spending more. If UT could become a persistent, standalone mode with regular updates, I’m confident that both I and countless others would invest more in your game over time than the cost of buying a new edition each year.
Thank you for your time and for listening to your community. I truly hope EA Sports will consider this for the future of Ultimate Team.
Sincerely,
[Mamoung7]
