Offline gameplay

So I will preface this saying i think the game does feel much better this year in terms of game flow. possession. defending. goalkeeping. shooting. all feels better.

However, I believe their biggest change to offline play "authentic gameplay" actually breaks the game. When on the CPU logic is completely docile. This is most noticeable in lower league play (ex. Ch'ship, League one, League two). The CPU rarely puts together an attack and for some reason they cant "think" when passing and recklessly lose possession all the time.

This is also extremely noticeable when playing Ultimate difficulty. The cpu just seems to lose all control of themselves, cannot pass, do not go forward, and cannot defend; regardless of sliders.

Turning off authentic gameplay gives the CPU a sense of aggression and intent again, mind you there is little to no tackles or fouls - but they at least seem to be able to play football. 

Aggression, First Touch, Buildup Speed, and First Touch Pass frequency all see heavily nerfed by default.  On Legendary, i have to set First touch pass (so far) to 35, First touch error down to 40, while build up speed to 78 - so that the cpu will not only "try" to attack but not recklessly give the ball away.

I also notice that even on 90+ aggression with authentic off, theres little to 0 heavy tackles in the game. Along with the shooting frequency not even noticeable until 90 as well. 

I am still testing (in league two) on legendary and full manual settings but if anyone is curious, here are my current slider set at 6 min halves - input is always appreciated! :

    Completely agree with you, lower league ai teams are awful to play against. Doesn't matter what settings I use I can't get the ai to want to win the game!

    Also agree with your first point about the game feeling better, first game in a long time to actually show some protentional to be a good year of EAFC.

    yeah! theres definitely a good foundation for gameplay there. the ai logic just seems to be a bit "lost" because the game is obviously programmed, optimized, and tested using top teams... which fair enough.

    but i definitely think that in the future they should test with like a generic "silver" and "bronze" rated teams as well... maybe to auto adjust the ai logic based on tier youre in? not sure... but its kinda always been an issue

    im still trying to test more

    That's what I think they have done, they have only tested top teams and the "skill level" of the lower ai teams isn't scaled correctly. I've started a premier league save and getting better results. But league one and two is just pointless in playing right now.

    ill keep testing later today! but its definitely feeling much more playable.

    there is also a difference between playing a team home and away as well. believe that has to do with how the teams "tactical vision" is setup... or maybe its placebo. but teams feel different home and away by default logic.

    i also feel like, even though ive been doing it for years, the game offline has to be played with full manual controls. that does also help a lot.

    i am really enjoying these tweaks i made. Every game has felt very back and forth in league two which should be a very tough league. 1-4-2 with Walsall. no blowouts, lost 2-0 to MK Dons who is unbeaten and felt like an unbeaten side in form. very pleased so far!

    getting further into the first season I am noticing that player boosts via form and sharpness is still pretty broken for the user. I wish theyd sort this out because once you start picking up sharpness and form you start to feel a bit unstoppable. (it will randomly end for no reason but it kinda just seems this way every fifa)

    also im tweaked a few more things.

    acceleration - 47/50

    pass speed - 36/38

    line height - 55

    line width - 46

    full back positioning - 70

    in the cpu sliders:

    shot frequency: 90

    skill move frequency: 99 (im curious what happens because the AI literally does not do a skill move this fifa it seems)

    im debating about turning the build up speed up a bit more but im trying to counter that by using line height to have the opposition start higher up the pitch by default. I also dont want it to be counter attacking simulator, so we are pulling the full backs back a tad and compacting the center with less width.

    the first patch is out... so will need to do testing with default settings to see what changed but after my game updated  it genuinely doesnt really feel much different. we will see!

    I find it interesting that some youtubers i tend to keep tabs on for their slider interpretations are keeping authentic gameplay off when it clearly breaks attacking ai and their values are trying to compensate that... which it really cant since its the logic side of the ai 

    i guess time will tell!

    yeah... i was testing the skill move frequency more and its just a broken slider. 60 and 99 feel the same. they do more skill moves but theyre like nonsensical...

    im probably just gonna leave it at 50 or 55... i just wanted some more like step over feints or roulettes or something! they started doing really weird skill moves in odd situations and going out of play lol.

    ive also noticed that user gk are really good on 55 so i increased CPU shot speed to 45. if that helps, i dont really want to go under 55 for user gk.

    Yeah. I'm playing in Bundesliga 2, and the computer never tries to attack whatsoever. They lose the ball easily, and that's on Ultimate difficulty. Authentic mode seems broken atm. I really hope this gets fixed really soon cause career mode seems to be getting the shortest end of the stick so far.

    highly recommend trying my sliders. ultimate and authentic are very bad. im now in league 1 on walsall and league 1 feels very competitive! its honestly very hard to make league 2 competitive without other external handicaps since the sharpness/form boosts are way too overpowered still
