Career mode feedback (Manager and Player)

So I’ve played 15 hours of this beta so far and think I’ve gathered a fair bit of experience to share my views.
I’ll keep it short as I can.

Player career:

Not much has changed in my honest opinion. There’s a few noticeable differences such as how you grow your player (seems to take a bit longer to make your player world class, which actually makes you consider which attributes to focus on). I’m currently coming to the end of the winter transfer window on my first season and my player is only 74 rated at Wolves, albeit the team is performing badly and despite my best efforts, I cannot string consistent wins, which is refreshing.
The specialisations are a neat idea and are welcomed. The training is mostly the same. In fact, quite a lot of things seems to be unchanged.
Heres a couple to name a few:

  • Cutscenes
  • Investments
  • Shopping options
  • Agent still yapping the same stuff in messages
  • Most of the social media posts are the same
  • Same old scenarios which again seem to have little consequences
  • Still no actual player interviews

Overall it’s vastly the same experience as last year, which is a shame because I do like to switch it up and dabble into player career from time to time, however I don’t think I will limiting this a lot this year.

Manager Career:

I must prefer this mode and there are some welcome changes.
Objectives has been tweaked which I like. Being able to dismiss a contract renewal is a small addition, but very appreciated. The random scenarios are a nice touch and brings back the classic experience ( I do hope you continue to add to this in future).  Being able to keep a closer eye on 5 other leagues is great and although I have yet to see a sacking, it’s cool that it’s a possibility.  Being able to turn off pre match training is nice. However again, there are a few things that are starting to feel stale.
Quick summary:

  • Same old interviews with little relevance to the upcoming matches or what had happened during the match.

  • Youth academy still feels the same (however I do like that there’s actually a small attendance to watch the youth matches this time.)
  • International position is very basic and I’m growing tired of it at this point.

  • AI transfers are very unrealistic which ruins the immersion in both player and manager careers (Played against Everton and they had Yamal and Guler??). Often players will sign for a club and within weeks they’re being linked to someone else?

Gameplay wise I’ve been using authentic on world class, and it does feel different to last year. Defending feels more rewarding, seems to be more weight to the players and the passing is okay (Please sort out the Ai in player career, no one seems to be able to make a 5 yard pass and it’s actually painful… In fact it’s almost unplayable in its current state, particularly in midfield. I dread to think how it will be in pro clubs). Crossing still seems to be a bit random at times, and the removal of green timing is going to take some getting used to. I do think this needs to return in my opinion.

Overall I currently have no strong opinions on how I feel about this years game. So far it’s just… Meh? I will continue to try things out to see if anything drastically changes, but in my opinion there are plenty of improvements to be made.

I apologise if this is a little difficult to understand, I’m writing this at almost 5am with little to no sleep (insomnia vibes). I would add clips of what I’ve experienced, especially with the Ai but I haven’t got round to doing that yet.

With that I do hope you continue to listen and consider our feedback.

Thanks for reading.
