They should just both be 85 rated, I don't see any reason either of them sit higher than that. EA have a habit of doing this with certain players, it was the same with multiple players over the years, but one that always sticks out for me was Rooney. Great footballer all throughout his career, but EA took their time about lowering his rating as they do with most high rated players.
I would guess part of it is age related, I believe Ronaldo is 2 years older so maybe they have just worked it that way. I couldn't say for certain, but it's the only answer I can come up with for the difference.
