Consistent crashes in FC26 on PC – “device removed 0x887A0005”(RTX 4070 Super)
Hello,
I am experiencing constant crashes in EA SPORTS FC 26 on PC with the following configuration:
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070 Super
- CPU: Intel i7-14700K
- Operating System: Windows 11 (build 23H2)
- NVIDIA Driver version: 581.29 (I have also tested older versions, but the issue persists)
Issue description:
The game consistently crashes to desktop without any error message, usually after 2 or 3 games towards the end of a match (between the 35th and 70th minute, varies). I even tried uninstalling EA AntiCheat completely and running the game without it, but the issue still occurs.
In the logs / Windows Event Viewer I can see this error:
D3D11 device removed, HRESULT: 0x887A0005.
It looks like DirectX / the GPU device is being lost.
Steps I have already tried:
- Performed a clean installation of NVIDIA drivers using DDU.
- Tested both the latest driver (581.29) and several older versions (including more stable releases).
- Forced the game to run with both DX11 and DX12.
- Disabled all overlays (Discord, GeForce Experience, Steam/EA App).
- Tested both Borderless Window and Fullscreen modes.
- Completely uninstalled EA AntiCheat (EAAC/Javelin) and tested without it.
- Cleared cache folders of FC26 and EA App.
What I would like to know / need support with:
- If there are known issues with RTX 40-series cards (4070 Super specifically) and FC26 leading to device lost crashes.
- If EA AntiCheat (Javelin) is involved in resource leaks even when disabled.
- Whether this is a known bug in the Frostbite engine on this specific hardware configuration.
I can provide Event Viewer logs, screenshots, or any crash dumps if required.
This issue makes the game practically unplayable despite high-end hardware. Please investigate this with priority.
Thank you
