Crash on Main Menu / FC HUB Transition

Hi everyone,

I am consistently getting the DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG crash when launching EA Sports FC 26 on Windows 11.

### System Specs:

- OS: Windows 11

- Primary GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super (Driver Version: 610.74)

- CPU / iGPU: AMD Processor with Integrated Radeon Graphics (Disabled for troubleshooting)

### Error Details:

- Exact Error Message: DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The GPU will not respond to more commands").

- Crash Trigger: The game successfully completes the "Compiling Shaders" phase 100%. The crash happens the exact second it transitions from shader compilation into the main menu / 3D FC HUB background.

### Troubleshooting Steps Already Tried:

Integrated GPU / Hybrid Graphics Conflict:

- Completely disabled the integrated AMD Radeon Graphics in Device Manager to eliminate any dual-GPU passthrough or driver handshake conflicts.

Overlays & Background Software:

- Disabled Steam Overlay, Discord Overlay, and NVIDIA GeForce Experience Overlay.

- Disabled Avast Antivirus shields to prevent file-interference during initial load.

GPU Clocks & NVIDIA Control Panel Settings:

- Enabled NVIDIA Debug Mode in Control Panel to run the GPU at reference clock speeds (eliminating factory overclocking).

- Set Power Management Mode to "Prefer maximum performance" for FC 26.

- Applied Max Frame Rate cap to limit menu FPS spikes.

Windows Registry (TDR Timeout):

- Added `TdrDelay` and `TdrDdiDelay` registry keys (set to 10 seconds) under `HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers` to prevent driver timeout flags.

Game Configuration & Display Modes:

- Forced Windowed / Borderless Mode in `fcsetup.ini` (`FULLSCREEN = 0`, `WINDOWED_BORDERLESS = 1`) and set the file to Read-Only.

Shader Cache & System Dependencies:

- Cleared NVIDIA and DirectX Shader Caches via Disk Cleanup and local AppData folders.

- Verified DirectX runtime files (`dxwebsetup`) and reinstalled Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables (2005-2022).

Despite all these advanced steps, the game still crashes as soon as the main menu 3D graphics load.

Is there an official fix or workaround for this Frostbite DX12 menu transition crash? Any help from the community or community managers would be greatly appreciated.

  • I've done that — installed a fresh Retail Windows 11 ISO and updated to the latest NVIDIA driver (610.88 for RTX 2070 Super). However, as soon as the 3D animations load in the main menu, I get the DirectX crash: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG. What else can I try? EA_Barry

You appear to be using an unsupported Insider or Preview build of Windows. Those Windows builds can interfere with Kernel-Mode drivers required for anti-cheat and other purposes. Please switch to a regular Retail build of Windows. Thank you. EA_Barry.
