FC26 ps5
Hello,
I am experiencing a serious overheating/shutdown issue with FC 26 on my PS5 Slim (disc version).
The issue only happens with FC 26. I have played other demanding games without any problems, including:
- Red Dead Redemption 2 — around 30 minutes with no overheating or abnormal fan noise.
- Uncharted 4 — completed the entire game without any overheating or shutdowns.
- Call of Duty — no overheating or shutdowns.
With FC 26, however, the behavior is very different. The console’s fan becomes significantly louder, sometimes very suddenly. The problem is intermittent: sometimes I can play 2–3 matches normally, while other times the overheating warning appears when entering a game mode or even shortly after opening the mode.
When the problem occurs, the PS5 displays the overheating warning. Sometimes I can press OK and continue playing, but on other occasions the console beeps and completely shuts down.
After the latest shutdown, the PS5 displayed the message: “The PS5 was not turned off correctly.”
I have already tried several troubleshooting steps:
- The PS5 was recently cleaned.
- I tested the console both vertically and horizontally.
- I tested it with the covers removed temporarily to improve airflow.
- I tried additional external airflow/fan cooling.
- The PS5 is now being used normally with the covers installed and adequate ventilation.
- I completely deleted and reinstalled FC 26.
- Both the PS5 system software and FC 26 are fully updated.
- I have not experienced this behavior with other demanding games.
After reinstalling FC 26, I was able to play three complete Pro Clubs matches without any warning. However, shortly afterward, the overheating warning appeared again and the PS5 completely shut down.
Because the issue occurs exclusively with FC 26 and other demanding games run normally, I am concerned that there may be a specific issue with FC 26 causing an unusual system load or triggering the PS5’s thermal protection.
Could the development/technical team please investigate this issue, especially for PS5 Slim systems?
I can provide additional information, videos, screenshots, system software version, or any other diagnostic information that may help reproduce the problem.

Just so you are aware, other games not having issues does not mean much or help us narrow down the cause of an issue. The others you mention are not as demanding as something like FC 26 and in fact two of them are last-gen games.
If your console is heating up to the point where it is shutting down then this is almost certainly a system or hardware issue.
Have you spoken with PSN support about this or sent your console off to them for testing?
If there is a game side issue causing something like this then it would be something that all players are seeing and as we are not seeing this, then this is almost certainly something on your side.
