Unexpectedly high ping ( important please read)

Hi everyone,

( currently effecting me and all of my friends in germany that are on the telekom network)

I wanted to share an important update regarding the ongoing high ping and connection issues that all Telekom (Germany) users are experiencing when connecting to EA servers (especially in EA FC 25 and other EA titles).

After multiple traces and discussions with Telekom support, they have acknowledged that there seems to be a routing issue affecting connections from Telekom’s network (AS3320) to EA’s servers. Telekom stated that they cannot resolve this alone and need further technical information or cooperation directly from EA’s network team to continue their investigation.

They need ( a traceroute from ea to telekom or to me )  so they could potentially see what is going wrong

Interestingly, when using routing optimization tools like ExitLag, the problem disappears immediately — proving that the issue lies within the Telekom–EA routing path or peering. Other ISPs in Germany (Vodafone, O2, etc.) do not experience these ping spikes, which further supports that this is a specific routing/peering issue between EA and Telekom.

Could EA’s network or connectivity team please reach out to Telekom (AS3320) to coordinate on this?

Many Telekom users are affected, and cooperation between both sides seems necessary to resolve it properly.

Thanks in advance for looking into this — and for passing this on to the relevant technical department if possible.

Best regards,

Hey Tehh_Daddy if the ISP is aware of the issue then this would be something that they need to work on from their end.

How they route traffic from an ISP to the EA servers is something that they control.

If you use a VPN to test do you have the same issue?

  • Hey Darko

My Internet Service Provider, Deutsche Telekom, has completed their investigation of the connection path from my home to your servers and has officially confirmed they can find no errors on the outgoing path.

They have now determined that to proceed, they require a reverse traceroute to be performed by your network engineers. This is necessary to analyze the return path from your servers back to my network, which they suspect is the source of the high ping.

My ISP, Deutsche Telekom, is on standby waiting for this data to complete their analysis. This is currently the only way forward to resolving this issue.

Please escalate this ticket to your network team to perform a traceroute from your server to my public IP address. I am ready to provide the IP address privately via email or direct message when requested.

I can attach the latest screenshot from my ISP confirming this request.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,
    Mohamad
