Unplayable above 90fps when it had been 120 before this weekend

Bit of a weird one. Despite the well documented bugs, fc26 had ran pretty smoothly graphics-wise since release. However this weekend I started to get noticeable freezes similar to that of lag spikes,...

EDIT:

The freezing is actually occurring even as low as 60fps (with the refresh rate set to the same) so its even worse than I initially thought. This is also on kick off mode so it is unaffected by connection - it is the game engine itself it seems.
